ABOUT JEFF JUNG
As President of the Catholic Community Foundation, Jeff Jung is responsible for the Foundation’s operations. Specifically, he is charged with knowing all Catholic ministries, parishes, schools, programs and organizations to assure the Foundation knows the needs of the people who reside throughout the Archdiocese of San Antonio, including South Texas.
Mr. Jung has extensive experience in public affairs and communications. Prior to this position, he was the Director of Public Affairs for Cox Communications in Lafayette, Louisiana where he served as the company’s communications spokesperson and community advocate. He served as the liaison between the company and elected officials, community leaders and non-profit organizations. While working with Cox Communications he directed communication services in Lafayette to assist Hurricane Katrina evacuees and assisted and coordinated restoral efforts in Lake Charles, Louisiana with city, parish and federal agency representatives after Hurricane Rita which hit just weeks after Hurricane Katrina.
Prior to his position with Cox Communications, Mr. Jung worked for AT&T for 29 years. He started his career with Northwestern Bell in Iowa, and then moved to Southwestern Bell in Austin where he held several positions in the consumer and business marketing departments. He spent 18 years in Corpus Christi with the company as Director of External Affairs serving the Coastal Bend and South Texas regions in community and public relations and governmental affairs.
His passion was working with non-profit organizations and city commissions to assist the less fortunate. Some of the organizations he assisted include Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi, the Commission on Youth and Children for the City of Corpus Christi, Communities in Schools, AVANCE and the United Way of the Coastal Bend.
Mr. Jung attended Catholic Schools from kindergarten to college, graduating from Dowling High School in Des Moines, Iowa and attending St. Edward’s University in Austin as well as the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio. He is also a disabled Vietnam era veteran who served the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Jung and his wife, Sally, are members of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He serves his parish as a team leader with the Mobile Loaves & Fishes ministry, as a catechist in the elementary level Faith Formation Program, and as a member of the Hospitality Committee.
